Job Overview:

Responsible for fleet maintenance. Responsible for adherence to all governmental regulations and compliance with company policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Performs installation, inspection, maintenance and repair work on low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment such as motors, generators, commutators, circuit breakers, controls/relays, and switches.
• Make routine inspections of electrical equipment during outages and report conditions found.
• Uses test equipment & hand tools to troubleshoot/maintain devices & systems for plant.
• Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and components as scheduled.
• Completes all written and electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed.
• Assists with electrical and instrumentation installations, maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed
• Analyzing complex test and operating data, preparing charts and graphs, and reporting on results as assigned.
• Interfacing with manufacturers’ representatives, production crew and other engineering personnel during installation and start-ups of new systems.
• Perform tasks necessary for continuity or restoration of service in an emergency.
• Communicates condition of equipment and status of jobs to group leaders, supervision, operations, and other craft personnel and outside service representatives.
• Makes decisions about how best to repair equipment and what resources (tools, time equipment) will be needed.
• Coordinates work activities with other crafts/contractors.
• Assure that procedures are issued and controlled as required by the QA/QC plan.
• Provide support for plant engineers and vendors for new projects and retrofits for existing equipment.
• Maintain and enhance the safety of the Electrical Maintenance shop by implementing the Safety Plan and the goals established for the department, e.g. Job Safety Awareness forms, Safety Observations, Safety Meetings, etc.

Required Qualifications:

• Successful candidates must receive a rating of Recommended on the Allied Power Pre-Employment Assessment test.
• English Proficiency minimum of IELTS 5.5 (International English Language Testing System) of level 5 on all and reading level 6
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Education requirement of at least one of the following:
o Associates degree in a technical field
o Three years minimum related electrical military experience
o Three years minimum electrical industrial craft maintenance experience that includes completing a recognized trades training program
o Five years minimum Electrical Industrial Craft Maintenance experience

Basic Qualifications:
• Experienced with repair, maintenance & testing of low, medium and high voltage electrical apparatus, including but not limited to:
o Motors.
o Circuit Breaker.
o Distribution Transformers.
o Power Transformers.
• Experienced with Electrical Test Equipment:
o Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM).
o High Potential Test Set.
o Doble Power Factor Test Set.
o Low Resistance Measurement Test Set.
o Transformer Turns Ratio Test Set.
• Experienced with safe rigging techniques and safe operation of overhead and jib cranes.
• Experienced with proper use of power tools, drill press, band saw, hand grinders, and air tools.
• Ability to read and understand & interpret instruction books, wiring diagrams & schematics, and company procedures.
• Ability to use scaffolding and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers and small electrical hand tools.
• Must be able to give and receive direction to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and the team.
• Must have a good prior work safety record.
• Must be able to provide experience of aptitude.
• Familiarity with facilities management, industrial control and related software.
• Ability to discern assorted colors.
• Ability to use mathematics including algebra and geometry to take measurements and perform computations required for installation of equipment.
• Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual).
• Computer skills.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

• Nuclear experience.
• Sound level of knowledge of maintenance activities and procedures performed in power generation.
• OSHA crane and rigging.
• Fork Truck operations and experience.

Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):

• Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures.
• Work in confined places, on elevations more than 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater.
• Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial equipment.
• Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment.
• Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas and elevations.
• Work in confined spaces, some requiring the use of respirator protective equipment.
o Established facial hair in the sealing area of a respirator is not permitted when wearing respirators.
• Substantial footwear meeting local safety requirements must be worn.
• Performance of duties may require working rotating shifts as needed and response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
• Overtime and non-standard work hours as required.
• Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
• Lift, carry, position and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledge hammers, stoop and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs.
• Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment.
• Performance of duties may cause frequent jarring of the body.
